Mellow Yellow Monday-Yellow Mangoes

The produce place near my house is closing down soon. They usually close one week before Thanksgiving. The man in the store let me take a picture of these yellow mangoes. They are usually found only on Tropical islands and exported to America.

Don't they look delicious

Wow, school really has me out of sync. I went to a Halloween party last week. It wasn't that great but I did get to do some really cool karaoke. Okay, so I am a karaoke geek. I love it though. However as the "only"black person there, why did they pick out "hip hop" songs for me to sing?

I ended up doing "Maggie May," by Rod Stewart. I love that song and love the songs of that era. Then I was asked to "speak" in Jamaican. I don't do tricks (as I am not a puppy), so that request was nixed. I do speak Patois (and for those who have seen my youtube videos know I am an authentic Jamaican). There is always that controversy of Jamaican dialect being a language. I guess if it classified as one, it would be English and African dialects mixed together.

Oh, I forgot to mention I also brought this cake, panettone italian cake to to the party. No one touched the cake. I should of saved my money. I am just not use to going to someone's home without bringing something.

These are my two supervisors-one is suppose to be a green M&M
and the other one is suppose to be Coraline. She had the boots and raincoat
but she took it off-said she was too hot

This is me. I came as a Jamaican. Hey, I wanted to be original. I had to take this picture myself. No one took a picture of me.

This is one of my co-workers. She came as a naughty school girl. I told her she looked liked Brittany Spears in first video. Her husband came dressed as a child molester. (did I tell you I worked with some weird ass folks)..

Due to my foot problems, therapy an so on, I missed two of my weekly featured posts. However, I happened upon this post that I absolutely loved. The post was written a few weeks back but this is definitely iriegal's pick of week (week ending 11/7/09). The pictures and the post were so much in sync. The author, Mary Ann Ashley is not only a wonderful blogger, but an excellent photographer. Her pictures capture the essence of the subject.

This post especially touched me because family is such and important part of my life. I understand my reason for living. My kids are a catalyst in my life. Everytime I get so low I think I am not going to make it, I remember that this too shall pass. So please give some love to Mary Ann Ashley Bever's blog.

She is probably looking for her owner

I found a stray cat a couple of days ago. She was hanging outside the back patio, constantly meowing. I thought she might be helpful in catching the mouse/mice that are playing tag in my house.

So I bring her inside. My friend had an old cat bed, toys and a litter box. Well, she must of belowed to someone because I noticed she had a flea collar on. So I took a picture and posted it around the neighborhood. She looked like she just had a litter. So I went outside searching for any signs that kittens were around. I didn't find anything and she(the cat) went with me.

She is frisky, couldn't get her to stay still

So yesterday a lady came and said she saw the poster, identified the cat(including the color of the flea collar). I let her in an sure enough the cat immediately ran to her and started purring and rubbing on her leg. Dang, they sure can trade affection easily huh. Well, I am happy she found her owner (of course the selfish side of me is like dang I had a mouser for sure).

Even the pets get into the act for Halloween. I have a feeling not willingly though.

I went to a Halloween party Thursday night. It was at the library. I am actually going to one tonight as well. This Halloween party was so cool, the kids were so cute. I especially like to see the little babies costumes. So why was I at the library,at the Halloween party on twitter? Go figure. I went with my roommate and her son. Here he is in his chicken costume.

There were so many people there all waiting to go into the Haunted House. I was a bit hesitant at first to go, but I actually had a blast. The library staff really did an excellent job.

This was one of the volunteers. He sat so silent, then he jumped up
and scared you. He really did a good job.
